Dr. Kamikura has been a Senior Scientist at Xactagen since April 2005, and has been instrumental in attaining Xactagen’s research and technology-development goals. Dr. Kamikura was a postdoctoral scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) in Seattle, WA from 1999 to 2005 in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Cooper. Dr. Kamikura studied the mechanism of fibroglast growth factor (FGF) secretion in the model organism C. elegans, and his studies with intracellular protein trafficking contributed to identifying the mechanism of action of Mylotarg™, a drug used clinically for the treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Dr. Kamikura obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1999, where he investigated the mechanism of action of cancer-causing genes.
